国名
乌干达共和国（The Republic of Uganda）。国名由布干达族族名演变而来，意为“干达人之国”。又称高原水乡。[9]
国旗
乌干达国旗启用于1962年10月9日，国旗呈长方形，长与宽之比为3:2。自上而下由黑、黄、红三色相间的六道平行相等的宽条组成，旗面中央有一白色圆地，其中为一只乌干达国鸟——皇冠鹤。黑色代表乌干达人民，象征黑人；黄色象征阳光；红色象征自由，三色组合的含义为阳光照耀下乌干达人民获得独立自由。在重要场合或正式升旗仪式上，使用带国鸟图案的国旗；一般场合则用无国鸟图案的黑、黄、红的色条旗。[9]

形盾徽背靠着两支交叉的当地长矛。盾徽上部宁静美丽的维多利亚湖被风的手指缓缓拂过，微波轻荡；中部正午的太阳直射乌干达大地，它暗示着赤道线横贯乌干达国土；底部绘有一面镶有黄色花纹的皇家大鼓，象征乌干达的传统文化和古老的乌干达王国。盾徽下面是特产丰富的绿色山岗，显示农业生产充满生机和活力；山岗上的咖啡树和棉花是维多利亚湖地区的主要农产品；丘岗中央河水正源源不断地汇入维多利亚湖。盾徽右侧绘有乌干达的精灵皇冠鹤，左侧是当地独特的公羊；盾徽下方的黄色饰带上用英文书写着乌干达人民的誓言：“为了上帝和我的祖国”。[9]
